It was so exciting when we were contacted for Maggie the Labradoodle’s first birthday Smash Cake Photo Session!
I have to admit we have never photographed a smash cake birthday session for a dog before, so I was very excited. We were sent a few sample ideas and knew this session would be a blast!
Our clients brought in the birthday party supplies and the cake made specifically for their dog. That was so helpful to us. Using white photographic paper made it super bright, fun, and easy to clean up.
Maggie had her big brother Samuel come along with her to the party. He is a 3 year old Labradoodle. He enjoyed being in front of the camera and eating the cake. Maggie was a bit more energetic and liked to stay on the move. For both dogs, we allowed the owners to work with them and give them treats for times when they accomplished sitting and staying.
We use photoshop when we need to, to create just the right image that our client was after. But we also like to show the dogs personalities and that can also end up being something unexpectedly wonderful.
