We’ve had a wonderful summer and have enjoyed photo sessions in the studio. Yay for having a cool studio during our 105 plus Texas heat summer days! We also held a lot of photography classes and private classes at Photos On The Vine as well. We do tend to take a break from posting and blogging in the summer as we spend time with our 2 teenagers. I become a sudden uber driver, which I actually enjoy, hauling them back and forth from practices and summer events.
Our son is getting his drivers license in the next few months, so I know these days where they need me most are soon coming to a close. Sigh...
Looking back over what we have been up to these last few months, I would have to say my favorite memory I would love to share is the absolute joy of getting to photograph my nephew’s newborn son. That would make me a Grand Aunt... This is the first grand baby for any of my sisters, and my Mom’s first great grandson.
My nephew and his girlfriend live about 4 hours away, so it was literally a fate occurrence that I was able to be in the area during that first week of little Boston’s first week.
Newborn Photography is literally the best when the baby is under 10 days old. The baby will be sleeping most during this time, and are so much easier to work with.
Since Xavier and I did his newborn session on location, in their home, we needed to travel lightly and be prepared to work in a small area. I used their boppy pillow to support the baby on their floor, but brought my own fabrics and used very little space to create these images. Xavier had a flat portable light source that he was able to hand hold, and we even used a hanging curtain they already had in their home, to use a backdrop for photos of the parents with their baby. I love the instant creativity in working in someones home. I love creating art with the tools and the environment in front of me.
